Position Summary:
Frontier Door and Cabinet is seeking an experienced Door Machine Operator for our El Paso door shop. This role is crucial in ensuring high-quality door production through precise machine setup, quality assurance, and adherence to defined processes. The ideal candidate has a background in door manufacturing, particularly machining, though installation experience is also valued. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Adjustment:
Set up and adjust the Norfield Magnum door machine based on production paperwork and engineering specifications.
Ensure all machine settings meet process standards for optimal performance.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect materials, dimensions, and finished doors to ensure compliance with customer requirements, building codes, and internal quality standards.
Identify and report quality issues, collaborating with supervisors to implement corrective actions.
Process Adherence & Improvement:
Follow established procedures for machine setup and production to maintain consistency and safety.
Document production data, quality issues, and process improvements in daily logs.
Participate in training sessions to support continuous improvement efforts.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical or operational issues to minimize downtime.
Report equipment malfunctions and safety hazards promptly.
Team Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with production, quality control, and engineering teams to ensure smooth operations.
Use bilingual skills to effectively communicate with team members and ensure clear understanding of instructions.
Work Environment & Safety:
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the production area.
Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of safety equipment.
Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably in door production.
Background in door machining is highly desirable; door installation experience is also acceptable.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to accurately read measurements and perform basic math.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to interpret technical documents and safety guidelines.
Excellent situational awareness and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day, 5-6 days per week as needed.
Fine motor skills to handle tools and machine controls.
Ability to lift, push, or move objects up to 80 pounds.
Frequent bending, squatting, and reaching.
Work Environment:
Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, machinery vibration, and high noise levels (ear protection provided).
Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and sawdust (appropriate PPE required).
