Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager or Master Mechanic with minimum supervision, performs repairs and maintenance on vehicle systems, to include all trucks systems, brakes, and transmission, be proficient in the computer technology sufficient to diagnose and repair. Schooled in all aspects of Truck and Machinery Repair and General Maintenance.
Essential Job Duties/Functions:
Work independently on established preventive maintenance inspections and be responsible for making all adjustments and repairs as required.
Must be able to work as part of the of a professional maintenance team to maintain company vehicular equipment to Manufacturer and State legal standards.
Be punctual, and maintain a good work ethic with appropriate office attire as designated by Management to present a professional image.
Be Drug Free
Must be able to read computer diagnostic equipment and testers required to complete repairs on all complicated engine components.
Prepare and maintain written documentation as required by function, completes required paper work timely and accurately.
Performs Preventive Maintenance on Equipment.
Follow all applicable safety regulations, procedures and established company policies and guidelines for safety, quality and customer service.
Receives work orders for requested heavy equipment or truck maintenance repairs.
Diagnoses specific issue(s) or problem(s) and determines most time and cost effective method to fix, repair or solve problem.
Communicates with equipment operator to gather or verify information and to advise of expected repair time.
Notifies parts clerk of special needs on a timely basis and assists with taking inventory as needed.
Travels to location of disabled equipment to fix, repair or diagnosed problem(s) as needed.
Troubleshoots equipment issues to determine most cost effective approach to fix, repair or resolve.
Consults with other mechanics as needed to discuss problem or questions with any particular process or procedure.
Operates equipment after completing repairs to ensure satisfactory completion/resolution of problem(s).
Maintains current knowledge and skill need to diagnosed, fix or repair heavy equipment and trucks.
Maintains orderly work area to include wiping up spills, neatly storing tools an parts, properly discarding old or unused parts and materials, sweeping area and emptying trash receptacles as needed.
Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as required or needed.
Maintain hand and power tools in good repair.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or other management employees.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:
HS Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred additional training in heavy equipment or truck engine repair. Must have 3 plus year related work experience or proficiency demonstrated through testing or hands on application.
Current, valid driver’s license required, Class A, B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Must provide own tools.
Must perform brake and steering adjustments/repairs.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplishment goals.
In addition must be certify and maintain periodic training certification in Diesel Engine Basics, Basic Electricity-theory, testing and troubleshooting for vehicle and/or stationary equipment. Basic Hydraulics and Computer diagnostic and trouble procedures.

Physical Requirements:
Frequent periods of standing on concrete surface
Occasional/frequent periods of leaning over and lying on back
Occasional/frequent lifting of up to 100 lbs.
Occasional/frequent carrying of up to 50lbs.
Occasional/frequent climbing of steps to enter truck and steel ladder to reach the top.
Occasional/frequent reaching, grabbing, pushing and pulling
Occasional/frequent stooping, squatting, bending and kneeling.
Occasional pushing and pulling.
Occasional/ frequent twisting.
Environmental Conditions (Personal Protective Equipment is provided where required or requested)
Major of work is performed outdoor
Intermittent exposure to high noise levels and truck vibration.
Frequent exposure to dust, diesel fuel, lubricants and other substances that may cause burns, be toxic or explosive if handled incorrectly.
Occasional exposure to confined spaces.
