37199BRExtended Job Title:Advanced Practice Provider (OBGYN/Alberta)Org Level 1:Texas Tech Unv Hlth Sci Ctr El PasoPosition Description:OB/GYN Advance Practice Provider will be independent practitioners in private practice and will work closely with other physicians who specialize in OB/GYN. They will deliver primary health care to women in all stages of life. Provides health care services to patients under physician supervision.Requisition ID:37199BRTravel Required:Up to 25%Major/Essential Functions:

Provides quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, development and other identified needs. See patients in the clinics assigned and report findings and test results to attending physician; including genetic testing. Documents in EMR for billing and coding and ensures billing compliance

Assesses health status by performing the medical history, physical examination and psychosocial assessment

Reviews the finding of the history and physical, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, plan for further diagnosis and therapeutic management as outlined in collaboration with the attending physician

Schedules consultations, diagnostic tests or procedures, future appointments for patients in coordination with the attending physician. Provide onsite consults at UMC as needed

Provides health education to the patient and his/her family

Participates in formal and informal instruction of nursing students, medical students, residents, professional nurses, and other health professionals

Contributes to research efforts of department/section by: (1) identifying clinical problems amenable to research methods, and (2) collaborating in research projects. Applies pertinent research to clinical practice

Provides prenatal and postnatal care including, but not limited to, maternal/fetal health. Collaborates with other health care providers for management and referral of high risk pregnancies

Performs a variety of gynecological services, including annual well-woman exams, pap tests, and testing for sexually transmitted infections

Provides contraceptive counseling and management, treatment for vaginal infections and sexually transmitted infections, as well as pregnancy testing, options, counseling and preconception counseling

Orders and interprets diagnostic and anatomical tests

Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations

Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association

Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer licensee to Texas

Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing

Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas
