Responsible for certifying student-athletes’ eligibility for practice and competition in accordance with conference (ordesignatedconference) and NCAA regulations.Description of Duties Certifies eligible UTRGV student-athletes for participation in NCAA athletics. Monitors student-athletes’ degree progress. Collaborates with Athletic Department personnel to effectively communicate student-athletes’ eligibility for practice and competition in accordance with NCAA bylaws. Audits degree plans for student-athletes. Communicates degree requirements and deficiencies to students and advisors for student-athletes approaching graduation. Provides support to faculty advisors and personnel in the University Advising Center. Provides training and support to personnel in the Student Success Center in regard to student-athletes’ progress toward degree and curricular requirements. Enforces UTRGV academic policies and ensures that exceptions to policy are appropriately approved and documented. Assists incoming freshmen and transfer student-athletes with registration during orientation programs. Ensures that student-athletes’ curricular records and degree plans are accurate and up-to-date. Develops, cultivates, and maintains positive working relationships with Athletic. Department staff, faculty members, advisors, and students. Clarifies degree requirement concerns and issues with Athletic Department staff, advisors and faculty members. Attends NCAA rules meetings to remain abreast of rule changes and eligibility standards. Provides regular reports and status updates to University Registrar. Assists with commencement ceremonies. Performs other duties as assigned.Supervision ReceivedGeneral supervision from University Registrar.Supervision GivenMay supervise assigned support staff.Required EducationBachelor’s degree from an accredited university.Preferred EducationN/ALicenses/CertificationsNone.Required ExperienceTwo (2) years of experience in student admissions, registration or closely related area.Preferred ExperienceExperience working with student-athletes and knowledge of NCAA eligibility and regulations.EquipmentUse of standard office equipment. Knowledge of student information system, preferably Campus Solutions, from PeopleSoft, preferred.Working ConditionsNeeds to be able to successfully perform all required duties.
