Flatbed Tow Driver Job Description

Position purpose:
Our Flatbed Tow Operators work internally and directly with the lender. No outside tows and never On Call.
The ideal candidate has towing and recovery experience, experience with online recovery database tools and resources. They must be career minded and can work independently without constant supervision. Tow truck drivers are given a particular tow truck to operate so that they can drive down to scenes of accidents and breakdowns, hook the bashed up or broken-down car and tow it away to the workshop. Tow truck drivers are required to inspect their own vehicles on a periodic basis to ensure that they are in good operational condition. Additionally, they are given the responsibility of ensuring that any maintenance on the hook area or the engine is done on time.
Requirements:
Education/Qualification requirements
Valid Texas Driver License and TDLR license plus must meet insurability standards of MEI
Previous tow truck experience. Preferably at least 1 – 2 years exp.
Must be at least 24 years of age for insurance purposes.
Good communication skills and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
General understanding of automobile mechanics
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
Must be able to learn new software, pay close attention to detail and always willing to learn a new or better way.
Responsibilities
Respond to calls from dispatchers and ensure that appropriate information has been obtained.
Verify location and extent of accident or breakdown and the location specified.
Map routes to determine the shortest and most efficient way of getting to the location of the breakdown or Impound yard.
To have the ability to complete and match the quota of expected tows, daily, weekly, monthly.
Provide a complete report regarding pick-up and delivery logistics to the base station.
Perform minor repairs on the tow truck and ensure that it is kept clean and maintained at all times
Make simple repairs on towed vehicles such as replacing flat tires and jumping batteries and fixing disconnected wires.
Taking pictures of each tow and emailing to the appropriate email address.
Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of the truck and the routine maintenance of the truck.
Pay: Biweekly. Weekly base plus commission
