Senior Data Scientist (Michaels Stores, Inc. – Irving, TX); Multiple positions available. Develop systems and techniques for identifying business trends and challenges through complex big data analysis. Design, develop and implement data system solutions for the organization. Interpret results from multiple sources using techniques including statistical analysis, machine learning and data mining. Design architectures, break down tasks, and review code. Develop new techniques for inferring user interests from online activity. Develop and investigate machine learning algorithms to improve current processes. Analyze large amounts of Michaels historical business data to detect patterns, trends, correlations, and casualties. Design and run A/B experiments that affect millions of customers and evaluate the impact of optimizations and communicate results to various business stakeholders. Enhance applications by identifying opportunities for improvement and making recommendations. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Work with teams to implement solutions based on data findings. Position based in Irving, TX. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
Requires a PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Science, Engineering, Analytics, or a related technical field. In lieu of a PhD in the stated field, will accept a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in the stated field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or data and business analysis or a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in stated field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or data and business analysis. Education, experience, or training must include the following: Business and data analysis; Python, R, and SQL; Drawing insights and presenting conclusions from data to inform model development and business decisions; Conducting analysis and communicating conclusions to both technical and non-technical audiences; Machine learning; and Statistical methods.
