This position is needed to assist with restoring old historical books and documents. You will be performing document preparation and document restoration.

Start Date: Must be available to start this THURSDAY

Historical Books and Documents

Position Summary: The File Clerk will work in a quiet and repetitive environment to assist with the restoration of old historical books and documents. The primary responsibilities will include document preparation and document restoration. The work location is near Lovefield Airport. The schedule is Monday to Friday from 7am-3:30pm.

Responsibilities:

1. Document Preparation: Prepare historical books and documents for the restoration process, including removing staples, repairing torn pages, and organizing materials for treatment.

2. Document Restoration: Perform restoration techniques on old books and documents to stabilize and preserve them, which may involve cleaning, mending torn pages, reinforcing bindings, and removing mold or stains.

3. Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality checks throughout the restoration process to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the restored books and documents.

4. Production and Inventory: Maintain efficient production levels while adhering to established standards and timelines. Keep track of inventory, including supplies, tools, and restored items.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Comfortable working in a quiet and repetitive environment, as the restoration process may require focused and repetitive tasks.

Extreme attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of the restored historical books and documents.

Prior experience in quality control, production, inventory management, or in roles related to museums, bookstores, or history is a plus but NOT REQUIRED

Good hand/eye coordination for precise and delicate restoration work.

Ability to work independently while following established guidelines and procedures.

Strong organizational skills to maintain inventory and ensure efficient production levels.
