Hours of Work :0800 - 1700Days Of Week :Monday - FridayWork Shift :Job Description :Days Of Week :Work Shift :8X5 Day (United States of America)Job Description :This Patient Representative-Medical Assistant positon will focus mainly on front office with back office assist and is responsible for handling both administrative and clinical tasks to effectively and promptly assist with managing patient flow. Greeting, instructing, scheduling appointments; entering patients into the computer system; determining insurance benefits; Assist with Patient inquiries while working under the general direction of the Physician or Nurse. Provide medical care to individuals and families as ordered by the physician by carrying out routine clinical tasks, entering the correct information into patient records, helping to educate patients, and doing any other tasks that fall under the scope of your license.Implement patient care under the guidance and direction of the all physicians, ma’s and/or. Office Manager(s).Sets up patient appointments, surgical admissions, procedures, referrals, obtains precertification on scheduled hospital test and tests ordered by the physician. Arranges surgery schedule with patients, other professionals and healthcare facilities.Checks-in patients, verifies and updates demographic and insurance information to the medical record. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties.Follows office scheduling policies and schedule patient appointments.Collects payments and enters charges into computer system.Registers new patients into computer system and verifies all patient addresses, telephone numbers and insurance information.Maintains strict patient confidentiality, follows HIPPA Guidelines, and use discretion when discussing patient information.Willingly participates in continuing education and other appropriate activities to maintain professional competence.Must be able to work with other staff members to foster a team approach to the highest quality of patient care and staff cooperation.Must be able to support the clinic efficiency and cohesion.Prepares new and established patient records for office visit by filing current reports, obtaining requested reports from outside facilities and generalized filing duties.At facilities with X-Ray equipment, medical assistants’ trained and NCT certified will perform x-rays (within their scope of practice) ordered by providers.Performs additional tasks, special projects and/or duties as assigned.May screen phone calls during triage under the supervision of a physician, provider, or nurse. Will function as a patient screener only, and will not make medical decisions during the triage process. Any triage phone call or face-to-face triage situation requiring a medical decision will be immediately referred to the nurse or physician.May perform intramuscular, intradermal, or subcutaneous injections approved by the physician and will complete the required documentation.Performs CLIA waived lab testing, specimen collection (e.g. phlebotomy, cultures) under physician supervision and prepare and storing specimens properly and corresponding lab company pick up.Assists physicians/providers and/or nurses in providing health care to patients in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.Performs general medical assistant duties as appropriate within the certification and state guidelines. Conforms to OSHA Regulations and Precautions.Participates in daily, weekly, or monthly quality assurance monitoring of all clinic procedure supply and equipment: medications, vaccines, clinical equipment, and any patient testing supply.Demonstrates an extensive working knowledge and practice of infection control procedures. Maintains an organized, confidential, disinfected and clean work area.As instructed and directed by the physician or providers, notifies patients of test results, refills medications, and assisting with health care forms.Performance requirementsKnowledge, skills, and abilitiesKnowledge of OSHA Regulations and Precautions, medical assistance practice, and patient care. Knowledge of clinic examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Strong positive interpersonal skills; can effectively communicate both verbally and written.
