Turner & Townsend is seeking a Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor with experience in data center construction, including exposure to MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems. This role will support the delivery of high-quality cost management services, working closely with senior team members and client stakeholders to help ensure project success.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You’ll contribute to all phases of the construction lifecycle, gaining exposure to complex, high-value projects while developing your technical and commercial skills.
Responsibilities: Support the estimation and negotiation of change orders for data center construction projects, including building systems and infrastructure.Assist in developing and maintaining cost plans and estimates throughout the project lifecycle.Collaborate with design teams and general contractors to support the development and review of cost estimates.Help reconcile changes and verify contractor data for accuracy.Coordinate with the general contractor and owner’s project manager to gather project updates and assist in preparing revised cost estimates.Draft written comments on contractor submissions, including executive summaries.Compile and organize cost data from various sources, including suppliers, subcontractors, and design consultants.Contribute to engineering and design discussions by providing cost-related insights.Work with minimal supervision to help resolve scheduling and cost-related issues.Assist in cost checks and valuations on larger projects.Support timely and accurate cost checking and valuation processes.Participate in post-contract cost variance tracking and change control processes.Help manage contingency tracking and commitment logs.Assist in preparing funding data presentations and value engineering (VE) session materials.Contribute to cost planning and updates at key design milestones.Provide input to design optioneering and value engineering exercises.Support contractor and subcontractor pricing reviews and negotiations.Perform quantity surveying, cost control, and change management tasks across the project lifecycle.Help manage post-contract cost variances and change control processes.Assist with cost auditing and validation processes.Contribute to the production of monthly cost reports for client review.Support the final account negotiation and close-out process.Maintain as-built cost records for benchmarking purposes.Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture.Follow internal systems and tools to ensure consistent delivery of best practices.SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable. Project/Program specifications: Experience in data center construction is strongly preferred; similar experience in semiconductor, battery, or large industrial projects will also be considered.Projects may include multi-billion-dollar data center campuses with multiple buildings and complex infrastructure.Familiarity with MEP systems and their integration into large-scale construction projects is beneficial.
