JOB SUMMARYLocation BSWH BUMC Downtown Dallas TXDepartment Transplant and Genomics CoreShift Day 8:30am - 5:00pmPreferred Experience Must have at least 2 years of working in a molecular laboratory Must have one of the following ASCP-SMB, ASCP-MB, CHT-ABHI or CHI-ABHIPerform high complexity clinical molecular assays in a fast-paced laboratory setting utilizing molecular knowledge/skills gained through clinical molecular experience, training and formal education.Develop / Confirm/ Implement high complexity molecular assays to improve transplant outcomes and further the advancement of personalized medicine.Adhere to/ Promote and Maintain regulatory compliance through all phases of validation, testing, QA, QC.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

Molecular Assay Development / Validation/ Implementation.

Perform high complexity molecular testing of clinical samples utilizing many NGS platforms and applications.

Perform high complexity molecular testing utilizing PCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acid purification.

Perform high complexity molecular testing in compliance with departmental procedures, protocols and regulatory standards.

Quality Assurance / Quality Control as related to all molecular procedures implemented / performed by the laboratory.

Instrument evaluation, maintenance and calibration.

Troubleshooting of nonconforming data, assay performance, instrument function.

Critical testing/ interpretation and accurate reporting of results.

Education and training of laboratory staff in molecular techniques / assays.

Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous way.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

Extensive knowledge of molecular biology values and molecular biology techniques: DNA sequencing over many platforms, PCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acid purification.

Extensive knowledge of / experience in primer design, sequencing applications, RNA extraction, cfDNA extraction, and human lymphocyte subpopulation isolation.

Molecular bench skills that adhere to all applicable clinical laboratory standards/ regulations, protocols and procedures.

Knowledge of / experience with liquid handling systems and flow cytometry basics.

Knowledge of / experience with Bioinformatics pipelines and tools.

Self-motivated, data and critical thinking abilities.

Skilled in documentation/ writing of procedures, protocols.

Effective communication skills to partner/ train and educate.
