Description Dallas client is seeking a Special Projects Accountant at the Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager level to address several projects brought about by a recent reorganization within the finance and accounting teams.Responsibilities:Development/Operations: Responsible for accounting on portfolio of properties. Prepare monthly GAAP financial statements including classification of costs during the construction process, development fees, fixed assets and estimated costs to complete when a project is delivered. JV agreement review and tracking critical deadlines. Review the month-end close process and look for opportunities to improve this process for the offshore accounting and reporting team with an eye toward automating the process of incorporating the data for all offshore entities. Overhaul the process for incorporating data from offshore entities to improve the time and effort of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting. Reorganize the monthly process for billing and collecting development fees for the corporate entity. Prepare monthly project cost summaries for development properties and variance reporting for operating properties. Review all existing entities on the books to determine which are active and which are no longer active and "kill" the inactive entities, closing out any lingering A/P and A/R. Collect and distribute all uncollected funds and close the entities with the appropriate states and governing authorities. Assist in required annual project audits for the team. Assist in transactions within portfolio (acquisitions, dispositions, loan closings). Accounting for property acquisitions and dispositions, including review and summarization of related documents and approval of journal entries. Track critical post-closing items.Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Desire to learn and accept new challenges. Strong Excel skills.Education and Experience: Degree in Accounting, CPA strongly preferred Real Estate development and partnership accounting experience.
