Aggregate Plant Operator

Summary Description of Position

Performs tasks required to safely and efficiently operate process equipment typically used in an aggregate plant including conveyor belts, shakers, log washers, and crushers. The Plant Operator is also responsible for being proficient in maintenance and repair of fixed equipment.

Key Responsibility Areas

Perform daily inspections of the plant equipment, mobile equipment, and plant site to insure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize downtime

Perform record keeping requirements relating to safety, production, and maintenance

Operate various types of heavy equipment including loaders, forklifts, skid steers, and excavators

Lead/schedule/perform repair and maintenance activities including screen changes, conveyor belt repair and adjustment, crusher adjustment, slurry system clearing and repair, log washer wear paddle replacement, patching of chutes, and perform cutting, grinding and welding as needed.

Communicate with internal and external customers, vendors, and contractors in a professional manner

Perform other duties as assigned

Education:

High School Diploma/GED

Experience:

2 year’s experience in aggregates or related industry

Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Excellent communication skills

Familiarity with aggregates and construction materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock etc.

Knowledge and experience in various aggregate plant equipment (crushers, wash plants, conveyors, materials washers, and various other types of fixed and mobile equipment used in aggregate industry)

Knowledge of the equipment and methods used in the production process, related aspects of materials storage, handling, and distribution of aggregates

Excellent customer service, conflict resolution, and communication skills

Physical requirements: using various hand tools, working in inclement weather, able to lift/move up to 100lbs. climbing, walking, and standing

Ability to lift and/or move 75lbs. on a routine basis: 100lbs. on an occasional basis

Experiencing welding and cutting a plus

Knowledge of MSHA rules and regulations
