Tenured: Professor & Department Head of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Location College Station, Texas Open Date 9/27/2024 Position ID 149321 Description The Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences seeks applications for the position of Tenured Professor and Head of the Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences. This is a full-time, 11-month appointment with an anticipated start date of May 1, 2025. Reporting to the Dean of the College, the Department Head serves as the chief administrative officer of the department and provides leadership in promoting the department’s academic excellence and nurturing the professional advancement of faculty, staff, and students. The Department Head serves on the Executive Committee of the College. As a key leader at the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, the new Head will be expected to build on the successes of prior leadership, leveraging the talents of faculty, staff, and students, to chart continued success and increase the national and international reputations of the Department’s research and educational endeavors. The Department Head is expected to work collaboratively with the Executive Committee to advance the academic excellence of the College and University. All tenured and tenure-track faculty members are expected to make significant contributions in the areas of scholarly research/creative work, teaching, and service. Since the Department Head has administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities, the successful candidate must have a record of commitment to a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency and efficient and effective business operations. Qualifications Applicants must have a DVM, PhD, DVM/PhD, or equivalent degree and a record of scholarship commensurate with appointment as a tenured Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. The successful candidate must have a record of an extramurally funded research program, an international reputation in their discipline, and a record of teaching excellence. The successful candidate must also have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in mentoring trainees and junior faculty. Candidates must have prior experience in directing research and educational programs and should have demonstrated leadership qualities commensurate with directing an academic unit such as effective communication, vision, resourcefulness, collaboration, and being an active advocate for the faculty and staff they represent.
