Responsible for providing timely computer support for all vessels and designated charter vessels

Job ResponsibilitiesSpecific duties include the following along with other tasks as assigned:Review, diagnos and resolve vessel IT requests and / or incidents in a timely mannerTravel to boat(s) via company provided vehicle or airfare on short notice when requests / incidents cannot be resolved remotelyInstall and troubleshoot vessel PCs, air cards, cabling, and associated communications equipmentTimely and accurate data entry into trouble ticketing systemProvide timely and accurate information and reports to management levels, summarizing problems and solutions.Will participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support when required

Required Skills/ExperienceThe skills and experience required to successfully fill the role of Specialist - Vessel Systems are:Ability to work independently and with a teamAbility to manage and prioritize multiple demandsStrong customer service skills and personal motivationSolid written and verbal communication skillsAbility to educate vessel personnel in how to avoid / resolve similar problems in the futureOrganized, detail-oriented and accurateAbility to comprehend technical materials and train on peripheral equipmentMust have personal credit card for travel expensesGood driver with a valid driver's licenseThree (3) or more years' experience and proficiency in desktop supportA+ Certification or equivalentAbility to create Ghost images from scratchRunning cable and crimping connectionsSkilled using / troubleshooting the following:Windows XP (setup, registry, INF files, etc.)MS-DOS (batch files, FTP)Microsoft OfficeTCP/IP protocol, Internet addressingUpgrading and repairing PC equipment and other hardwareAdding memory, replacing motherboard, drives, PCI cards, air cardsSatellite communication & cell data devices and antennas (plus running cable)

Physical Requirements and Work EnvironmentThe physical requirements required to successfully fill the role of Specialist - Vessel Systems are:Strength - Ability to lift fifty (50) lbs. and carry up/down ladders and stairs.Climb - Must be able to climb stairs and ladders that may have a 90-degree angle to them.Confined spaces - Ability to enter work spaces (24" x 24") and work in confined spaces for installations and repairs.Range of motion - Must have a complete range of motion in order to work in confined areas which includes reaching over one's head.Physical appearance - ability to wear hard hat, safety glasses, nomex coveralls, slicker suit and steel toe bootsGeneral - Must be able to endure harsh environment and work safely in environments which include extreme temperatures both hot and cold. The ability to enter and exit hatches/doorways in order to work on various equipment and quickly in the event of an emergency.
