Our hospital has been serving the North Austin community for over 15 years.You'll have access to continuing education, health/dental/vision benefits, pet benefits and discounts, and more!Work Environment and Physical Demands:The successful candidate must be 18 years of age or older and will share our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our loyal clientele and the highest quality care to our daycare, boarding and grooming pets.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Caring for and interacting with the amazing animals that are left in our care

Cleaning and sanitizing runs, cages and the entire facility to ensure the health of the pets.

Walking dogs.

Bathing, brushing, nail trims, and more. Daily cleaning of the kennel areas.

Cleaning and maintaining the Pet Resort premises.

Playing and interacting with our furry visitors as if they were our own

This is a full time position and consists of three 11 hour shifts and alternating weekends.VCA Premier Animal Hospital and Pet Resort is fast-paced and the noise level is usually loud. The safety of our team members and pets is a high priority. As a kennel assistant, you may be exposed to animals that are agitated/nervous/scared. Animals may scratch and/or bite.Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. A team lift may be required for heavier items. While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to talk and hear; bend and stand for long periods at a time; walk; reach with hands and arms; have full use of both hands to properly secure animals; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Professional Experience / Personal Characteristics

Able to handle a variety of sizes/breeds of canines and felines safely and comfortably

Work inside in a heated with high humidity area, with loud background noise from the dryers.

Must be open to learning

Comfortable with computers and other technology

Passion for building relationships and educating

Compassion toward animals and people

High energy and drive to be successful

Fast learner, able to multi-task and be flexible to change

Ability to innovate and problem solve

Team player who can work effectively in a fast growing, dynamic environment

Effective communicator in a variety of situations

Great attention to detail

Dependable attendance needed

Must be able to work shifts that support hospital business hours

Potentially subject to high noise levels, bites, and scratches

Ensure cleanliness of facility and equipment

Potentially subject to hazardous chemicals
