Role and Responsibilities
Responsible for cutting scrap metal materials into proscribed sizes using a handheld torch in a designated area
Inspect the cutting equipment (torch and hoses) assigned
Ensure proper cutting procedures are followed to prevent damage to equipment and personal injury
Ability to assess and distinguish between varying types of scrap metal material to determine appropriate cutting method
Knowledge of safe cutting and related torch burning activities, including proper PPE and cutting process and procedures
Make sure the gas and oxygen filters are in good safe condition
Inspect cut vessel section prior to hot work to ensure any and all tanks have been drained and free of flammable liquids and all insulation, wood and cable have been removed
Knowledge of and adherence to safety requirements in a scrap yard environment, including use of proper PPE
Perform any and all other duties as assigned
Requirements
Must pass employee physical and drug screen.
Physical Demands
Ability to walk more than 1000 yards
stand for extended periods of time
ability to lift and carry no more than 50 lbs.

pushing; pulling; twisting; kneeling; squatting
seeing; speaking; hearing.
Working Conditions
Aboard a Marine Vessel or dismantling yard
