TITLE: Digital & Operations Assistant
Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) seeks a creative, driven, detail-oriented, and graphically minded Digital & Operations Assistant, who will play a key role in shaping the Member’s digital outreach and ensuring smooth daily operations for the Member. This is a full-time position that often requires availability on nights and weekends as well as regular travel between the Rio Grande Valley and Washington, D.C. to support and execute the Member’s daily schedule and his aggressive, strategic mass communications plan. The Digital & Operations Assistant will be based in the Member’s Washington, D.C. office and travel to and from the Member’s District as needed. The Digital & Operations Assistant will report to the Chief of Staff.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Chief of Staff, Operations Director, and District Director to support daily operations, including but not limited to transporting the Member to daily commitments and ensuring the prompt delivery of all briefing materials for the Member’s engagements
Ability to work evenings and weekends to staff the Member in Washington, D.C. and the District as needed
Create all digital content, including copy, graphics, and video
Manage and create content for the Member’s social media platforms
Work with Communications Director to develop graphics and content for franked communications
Clip TV appearances, committee hearings, and other video content for social media
Assist with drafting and sending out the Member’s newsletter, press releases, statements, talking points, floor speeches
Work with the Communications Director to maintain press lists
Work with the District Office to publicize constituent services and events
Manage live-streaming and photography at press conferences and DC-based events
Assist with updating the website
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
to support the execution of the Member’s overall communications strategy and daily schedule; and
to manage, monitor, and coordinate the drafting and posting of content to the Member’s social media accounts.

availability to travel regularly with the Member between the Member’s District and Washington, D.C.;

DUTIES:
coordinates with the Member, Chief of Staff, District Director, and Operations Director to transport the Member to his daily commitments and ensure has all relevant briefing materials;
coordinates with the Communications Director to develop and implement the Member’s communications and media strategy;
serves as an integral part of the Member’s communications team by monitoring national and local digital media coverage;
works with the interns to compile and send out daily news clips to the Member and office staff;
partners with the Communications Director, Legislative Director, and Chief of Staff to draft, post, and monitor social media accounts and messages;
maintains the Member’s official government website and social media accounts to ensure content is accurate and up to date;
works with the Communications Director, Legislative Director, and District Director to develop communications to assist with outreach to district stakeholders and Member offices;
oversees digital media analytics and monitors social media performance;
coordinates digital advertising of press releases, newsletters, and press events;
works with the Communications Director, Operations Director, District Director, and other relevant staff to coordinate logistics for and the execution of press events;
supports the drafting of press releases, video scripts, media advisories, and op-eds;
drafts and sends out the bi-weekly newsletter and all other newsletters or email blasts;
produces graphics, videos, and other digital media messages for the Member; and
performs other duties as assigned.
The position requires attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment. The ideal candidate is self-starter with technical skills and an interest in video recording and editing, photography, and branding. Access to a safe vehicle and a clean driving record are required.
