Here’s What You Need
High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
1 Year Related Healthcare experience (preferred)
RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician Upon Hire (preferred) OR
RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator Upon Hire (preferred)
Knowledge of practice management and word processing software.
Ability to perform redundant tasks with minimal error rate
Ability to use good judgment in the course of contact with physicians, patients, staff, and outside sources.
Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
A team player who handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment
Knowledgeable of HIPAA, state, and other federal regulations governing patient confidentiality and disclosure of medical records (ROI).
Able to screen authorizations for validity and identify required documents for disclosure.
Able to complete oral and written depositions/questionnaires requested by subpoena.
What You Will Do
Assembles patient’s health information in charts. Ensures all forms are accurately completed, properly identified, and signed. May file loose sheets (patient records) in appropriate chart. Ensures all charts are organized to protocol.
Preps and scans pertinent information into patients EMR. Performs QA on scanned document samples.
Pulls and files charts for patient appointments, staff, physicians and/or other requests.
Processes or assists in processing medical record requests, subpoenas, and non-routine requests.
Forwards billing requests for processing.
Serves as a resource on medical records/Protected Health Information (PHI) and assists and educates staff as needed.
Monitors onsite chart reviews by 3rd parties and adheres to review process. Identifies and/or reports breaches appropriately.
May deliver and pick up charts from requested locations. May answer phone inquiries regarding medical records.
Performs other duties as assigned.
