Position Overview:
As a Mechanic, you play a crucial role in the success of the company by maintaining and repairing necessary Fleet trucks and equipment needed to keep production moving forward. You will be responsible for various tasks, maintaining and repairing equipment and trucks, researching/ordering parts, and maintaining the mechanics work area. Your attention to detail, skills, and commitment to the company's Fleet will contribute to the success of the company.
This is an Hourly Non-Exempt position that reports to the Fleet Manager.
Requirements
What you’ll have:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Minimum 5 years experience as a mechanic.
Responsible for turning in deliverables and reports daily.
Must set up and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to proper personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
Punctuality is essential; Arrive to work on time every day limiting unexcused absences.
Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and organizing work area, truck, equipment, tools, and office location.
Excellent teamwork skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and vendors.
Time management skills are crucial to ensure efficient use of working hours.
Timely completion of required documentation.
Communications Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and communicate technical information clearly.
What you’ll do:
Always establish and maintain an effective and positive relationship with vendors and team members.
Present a positive and professional image for the company in all dealings with vendors, employees, and the community. Maintains a professional appearance appropriate for the position and environment.
Protect the assets of the company and make prudent decisions to mitigate any and all risks that threaten the assets: this includes but is not limited to the security of all company equipment, vehicles, and tools both at all the company’s office and warehouse.
Adhere to company and Area rules, policies, and procedures.
Responsible for the quality of your work and personal conduct, assuring that all company workmanship standards and specifications and requirements have been met.
Adhere to all safety procedures and rules established for the company, required by OSHA regulations.
Participate in safety training programs and adhere to safety procedures at all times.
Identify and report potential safety hazards or incidents promptly.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines when operating equipment and performing maintenance tasks.
Responsible for assuring that all necessary and required paperwork and documentation is properly, correctly, and promptly submitted both for internal company recordkeeping.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Daily reports of work accomplished.
Purchase order # for all purchases over $200.
Receipts for all fleet purchases.
Fuel purchase receipts.
Make repairs as necessary to return equipment to operational state.
Wide variety of tasks, electrical, AC, hydraulics, undercarriage, major component removes and replaces (engines, transmissions, differentials)
Diagnose minor engine and transmission problems (overheating, fuel issues, and leaks)
Perform maintenance on Equipment at the Shop or in field. Work on Heavy Construction Equipment (company is willing to teach someone who is mechanically inclined)
Handle tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently. Maintain and organize tools and equipment in proper working condition.
Responsible for safely and effectively operating machinery such as mini excavator, skid steer, rock saw, and micro-trencher when repairing or maintaining.
Responsible for safely and effectively operating bucket trucks and bucket booms when repairing or maintaining.
Communicate progress of repair with direct supervisor as required.
Use Company vehicle, service truck, and fuel cards properly including notifying supervisor immediately of any issues with the vehicle.
Diagnose defects in heavy equipment.
Responsible for securing equipment and tools to trailer or truck and maintain proper load based on trailer and truck specifications.
Load and unload equipment and materials as required to support warehouse personnel when needed.
Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and availability, as needed, to accommodate project demands, urgent tasks, and support for team members during peak periods or as the needs of the business dictates.
