SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for instructing program students for Skillpoint's Austin HVAC training program. This program is designed to provide basic, entry-level skills to equip students to enter the HVAC industry using the provided curriculum. Program instruction is provided in person in Del Valle, Texas. Classes run every 5 weeks with a 1-2 week break between each class. During breaks, the HVAC instructor is expected to develop curriculum and support Skillpoint's outreach team to engage program applicants and employers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Teaching course according to curriculum and expectations, both online and in-person, enforcing PPE use during in-person portions
● Supervising and monitoring students’ use of tools and equipment
● Ensuring that each trainee accomplishes and comprehends the necessary information to be employable upon graduation
● Continuously improving curriculum delivery
● Organizing, setting up and maintaining equipment and/or supplies during class
● Managing negative classroom behavior and encouraging positive behavior
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION:
Qualified applicants will possess:
● Valid driver license and reliable transportation
● Contractor License issued by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) (Class A preferred)
● EPA 608 Universal license
● OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 credential
● Minimum of five years of experience in the HVAC/construction industry
● Experience in training, teaching, onboarding, or supervising new employees (formally or informally)
● Highly self-motivated requiring minimal supervision
● Ability to be flexible, persistent, and confident
● Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
● General working knowledge of internet-based software, including word processing software (Microsoft Word or Google Docs, virtual meeting software, and e-mail software (Gmail)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION:
● Experience teaching a vocational training program or experience teaching team members
● Experience working with underserved populations, e.g., individuals experiencing homelessness, at-risk youth, justice-involved individuals, or other underserved groups

Pay: $60,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
