Seeking contract/ freelance seamstresses that are educated in production level sewing and willing to work with unique fabrics - Remote work
arloom is a local brand based out of Wimberley, TX that works to source, rework and repurpose traditional Guatemalan textiles. Every textile is handwoven, individually selected, washed by us in house. We work to find ways to utilize the textiles so that there is little waste! We work in-house to concept the design, draft the patterns and make samples that we then hand off to local seamstresses to help us manufacture.
We are currently looking for new local production partners/ seamstresses and would like to see if you would be a good fit for working with our unique textiles!
You must be able to work in your own home or studio
It is recommended to have a semi-industrial or industrial machine and/ or serger to work with these textiles
Must have garment construction and sewing knowledge & experience
Must feel comfortable with production sewing for quantities under 100 units at a time
Some important details to note about our textiles:
1. All of our Textiles are one-of-a-kind and need to be cut individually
2. many of our textiles have small issues or stains and patterns need to be cut around the stains
3. We provide hand- drafted patterns, samples and sewing instructions when necessary
4. Because our textiles are all vintage and handwoven we have to use some non-traditional seam finishes or reinforce seams in order to keep the textiles from tearing.
5. We typically produce in fairly small quantities (25-100 at a time) sizes XS, S, M & L
