At Hill Country Board & Beam we pride ourselves on handcrafting one of a kind custom millwork pieces. We are a small, bespoke wood shop dedicated to producing top of the line, fine archetichural millwork. From custom kitchen cabinetry to built-ins, to wood beams and trimwork, everything that comes out of our shop is designed and built with integrity and intricate craftsmanship.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled production manager to lead our team in a dynamic cabinet shop environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in millwork, cabinet fabrication/assembly, production management, finishing techniques, and interpersonal/leadership skills. As the production manager, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring projects are completed efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards. This is a hands-on craftsman role.

80% Craftsman/20% Managerial tasks.

Duties

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of team members engaged in all tasks.

Ability to read shop drawings and delegate tasks accordingly.

Operate hand tools and machinery to fabricate and build cabinetry and other millwork projects.

Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Train and mentor team members on best practices for using tools and equipment.

Be active in employee relations, perform employee reviews and conduct training.

Maintain an organized work environment, including managing inventory and supplies in the shop.

Collaborate with management to plan project timelines and allocate resources effectively.

Developing and implementing shop policies and procedures to improve efficiency and quality.

Conduct regular inspections of work quality and provide feedback to team members.

Setting targets for schedules and managing product costs to ensure profitability.

Ordering all material required to complete jobs and conducting weekly, monthly inventory.

Maintain machinery and equipment.

Possess a positive attitude with an aptitude and desire for increasing team morale, productivity, and sales.

Qualifications

Proven carpentry and leadership experience in a cabinet shop. Ideally, 3 years.

Proficient in reading shop drawings. Knowledge in Mozaik.

Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and machinery related to cabinet fabrication and assembly.

Must be able to problem solve and think critically. The shop manager is the solutions expert.

Experience operating forklifts is preferred.

Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.

Strong communication skills to effectively convey instructions and feedback.

Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods as required by the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 -45 hours per week- some weekends as needed.
