The Sustainability Coordinator is an ambassador for the company’s diversion efforts in schools, businesses, and cities and at events, as well as training, organizing, and supervising team member efforts. This position guides customers to reaching their waste diversion goals through building relationships, executing custom action plans, and providing tailored recommendation; conducts regular audits of all recycling and composting accounts that TDS supplies diversion reports to and collaborates with internal team members and external stakeholders to improve and ensure successful recycling, composting, and diversion programs for customers. The Sustainability & Diversion Coordinator leads outreach efforts and diversion project execution for the TDS Eco Academy Program, working primarily with K-12 students, teachers, and school staff.
Bachelor's degree
One year of experience with recycling or compost operations, diversion education or community program.
Must exhibit a professional appearance and telephone demeanor
Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products – e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook
Graphic design and digital asset creation skills
Must demonstrate verbal and written communication skills in English
Must be detail-oriented, demonstrate a strong work ethic and be willing to adapt to change
Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking skills
Must be available to work at assigned Green Events on weekdays, weeknights or weekends
Reliable transportation to travel to customer or prospects sites or events
Demonstrates ability to think analytically
Ability to develop and lead zero-waste workshops, for affiliated organizations
Advanced degree in a related field
Experience with and working knowledge of recycling collection, single-stream recycling collection, and food waste composting
Experience writing and implementing diversion training programs for commercial customers
Experience conducting field audits
Valid Class C driver’s license
Safe driving record for the past three years
