Job Description

Silk and Sage Design is looking for a part-time sales associate who can combine skills as a furniture painter/artisan/maker. The ideal candidate is someone who is looking to grow their career in a creative customer-facing industry. Day-to-day work at Silk and Sage Design would consist of assisting customers with their home painting projects while also assisting our lead artisan/maker with custom furniture painting and finishing projects. Additionally, we are seeking someone who is interested in a longer term goal of growing their skill set through the development of possible new creative goods and/or services to be offered exclusively through Silk and Sage Design. Exceptional customer service is a core tenant of Silk and Sage Design; preference will be given to candidates that have a track record of delivering terrific customer service in a retail or similar environment. We are seeking someone who is eager to learn, who is detail oriented, and patient with their work.

Hours and Pay

Silk and Sage Design is currently open 9-7 Monday to Thursday and 9-2 Friday and Saturday. While somewhat flexible, we are ideally looking for a candidate that is available for midday/afternoon to closing shifts as well as Friday and Saturday shifts. The initial position is for part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) at $20 per hour. However, being a small business we are seeking a candidate that would like to grow into a larger role over time as we grow.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day

-Learning about and being able to provide active knowledge of the products and paints that we work with and sell

-Assisting with painted furniture and other custom techniques for clients

-Helping customers select paint colors and finishes, as well as providing technical advice for their projects

-Fielding customer inquiries in-person, over the phone, as well as by email

-Tinting and mixing cans of paint and packing of orders for pickup or delivery

-Assisting with moving furniture and displays around, helping customers bring paint orders out to their vehicles, and other duties that sometimes require being on-foot for extended periods of time and lifting weight of 25 lbs or more

Longer Term

-Development of custom crafts, goods and/or services to be featured and sold exclusively at Silk and Sage Design

Experience

-Retail/Customer Service experience strongly preferred

-Painting/DIY/Art and Design background preferred
