Church Pianist Wanted: Join Our Musical Trio in Downtown Austin

The Congregational Church of Austin, United Church of Christ, is seeking a talented and dedicated pianist to join our worship team. This is a contract position (3 hours per week, Sundays required) offering $145 per Sunday. We are a progressive faith community that is Open and Affirming and a Reproductive Freedom congregation.

Essential Functions:

Accompany the congregational singing and provide accompaniment for choral arrangements during the worship service.

Participate in the trio of musicians (piano, violin, and cello) in the prelude, offertory music, and postlude of the worship services.

Practice with the choir for 60 minutes before worship on Sunday mornings and then followed by a rehearsal with the trio before worship.

Cooperate in the selection and performance of a prelude, offertory, and postlude each Sunday.

Secure pianist replacement in case of absence. You are allowed 3 absences per year before conversation will be raised with the Music Director and Pastor about said absences.

Technological Knowledge: Demonstrates technical proficiency and versatility in playing a wide range of musical genres, including classical, traditional hymnody, and contemporary styles, to support and enhance diverse worship experiences; collaborative piano skills to rehearse and accompany the choir.

Flexibility: Flexibility is essential, as the role requires adaptability to diverse musical needs and collaboration with the Music Director, Pastor, Choir, and fellow trio musicians.

Interpersonal Skills: fosters positive, collaborative relationships with the Music Director, Trio, Pastor, Choir, and congregation, demonstrating effective communication, adaptability, and a supportive attitude in a worship-focused environment.
