Contract Legal Assistant/paralegal to Forensic Medical Expert
Hybrid Workplace/Remote in South Austin
Part-time up to 20 hours a week, flexibility in schedule
Pay rate starting at $25/hour
Must be willing to submit to a background check.
Qualifications:
Legal assistant/paralegal experience required. Minimum three years experience.
Knowledge & Skills
Experience with CLIO legal software or similar billing/document management software is a big plus
Experience with OneDrive, MS office suite, Teams, and Zoom is required.
Experience with organization of digital and tangible files
Detail-oriented, deadline-driven
Excellent writing skills
Experience in telephone communication with attorneys and staff necessary.
Ability to edit correspondence and documents.
Duties may include:
Open new cases in the system and set them up for initial review.
Organize and maintain legal/medical files
Calendar deadlines and other important dates
Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal information
Make nuanced replies to a variety of emails
Maintain and organize schedules
Perform online research on various medical and legal topics
Utilization of social media, primarily LinkedIn
Billing (can be trained)
We are retained as experts on legal cases involving medical and legal issues. This is a good opportunity for an experienced legal assistant/paralegal who is looking for a part-time job or extra income.
This is a hybrid role but some work at the doctor’s home office in the evenings will be required, particularly in the beginning.
This position requires that you have your own computer and internet.
