The Safety Officer is responsible for day-to-day activities related to safety, compliance, and training across all business units, including waste and recycling, pipeline, and concrete operations. This role assists with the design, planning, organization, and implementation of safety initiatives and training programs and the development of accident prevention strategies. The Safety Officer conducts accident and injury investigations, and participates in follow-up actions and corrective measures to mitigate future risk.
A minimum of four (4) years of safety-related experience (a degree may be substituted with relevant experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years)
At least five (5) years of experience as a safety professional, including demonstrated work in loss control, incident prevention, safety training, and delivering presentations.
Strong working knowledge of federal and state OSHA, DOT, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations;
Willingness and ability to travel to field or site locations as needed;
Demonstrated ability to apply general safety rules and regulations to resolve specific workplace issues;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Current CSHO, CSS, CDS, ASP, CSP or equivalent or the ability to obtain within a reasonable period of time.
Valid Class C driver’s license
Record of safe driving for the last three years
