“Retired” Rancher seeks part time ranchhand to assist with general labor tasks to maintain ranches and residence primarily in the LEANDER/Jonestown area. Necessary tasks range from light carpentry to light painting and landwork that will require the use of a skid steer and chainsaw. Clearing brush, fixing up and building fences, and other needed land maintenance will be necessary. The position will only need to be one day a week, for about 8 hours. Most weeks this day will be Saturday, but some weeks it might be a weekday as the weather permits but will not typically be Sunday. The owner does possess other ranches that need work on occasion, so travel to them might come up with the option of staying overnight on the properties to avoid late night travel. This job will be an as-needed w-4 position and is primarily physical involving occasional heavy lifting and activity in areas that will be sunny. Well water will be available if needed, but please bring your own lunch and a water bottle w/ice. This is a relatively low stress job but being comfortable working in the sun for an hour or two is a must. It's not a full time or major position and is a great option for making extra cash and getting some exercise in on a free day, but needs could change and a more permanent workload might open up for you. We just need a little help on the ranches as the primary owner has retired a few times and requires some assistance fulfilling necessary duties and tasks. Any experience is fine if you have some skill with standard tools, chainsaws, farm equipment, and can drive a truck with a trailer hitched up when needed. There is a chance you’ll be able to feed the cows on the property, as well, so be wary if there are large animals on the ranch. That said, we might need a camp cook for company/family gatherings, so a steady hand on the grill will be a great help when it comes time for the barbecue.
