Caregiver Needed - South Austin (near Slaughter Ln and Menchaca Rd.)
$18 an hour, part-time only,
Full time hours not available.
Available hours: Mondays and/or Fridays 1 PM to 9 PM
Start date: ASAP
We are seeking a skilled or unskilled caregiver with some experience working with the disabled; to help care for a disabled adult male who has muscular dystrophy, who is seeking help performing everyday tasks. Client uses power wheelchair and no longer has use of arms and legs. Personal care includes getting to bed at night or out of bed in the morning, assistance getting dressed, showering, brushing teeth, simple stretches, toileting (no diapers or briefs) and eating. Other duties include light cooking /cleaning (in private home). Client is easy going and enjoys music, television, art, painting, games and just hanging out.
Candidates must be comfortable lifting approximately 75 pounds to transfer client or ability to use a hoyer lift
Experience preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Client owns wheelchair-accessible vehicle and would prefer a caretaker with the ability to drive if needed. Drivers license/insurance would be required if caregiver will be driving client’s vehicle.
Applicants must be reliable, friendly, helpful and report to work on time, with no criminal background.
