The IT Network Administrator Sr ( OSP Fiber Network Admin) reports to the IT Manager in the Network – Fiber and Wireless business unit. This position installs, maintains, documents and provides critical infrastructure engineering by integrating highly complex and highly reliable fiber optic networks to transport relay protection, corporate, and SCADA systems.The IT Network Administrator Sr communicates and collaborates with both internal and external customers. This position requires call-back and on-call assignments and a driver’s license to travel to and from work sites.Essential Job Functions:

Engineers, develops, and maintains detailed plans for fiber networks, disaster recovery, and testing.

Leads OSP fiber field crews in all fiber installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.

Documents complex network architecture integrating and schematically depicting fiber optic architectures for capture into complete network configuration documents.

Draws plans, diagrams, graphs, tables, charts, and maps using drafting and drawing tools.

Conducts field checks and audits to verify correctness of data.

Reviews and evaluates various reports and studies.

Maintains project files and records.

Designs and plans layout of projects to includes drawings, designs, and specification documents.

Analyzes, integrates, recommends, communicates, and supports design solutions to resolve advanced fiber optic network issues.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience interpreting complex wiring diagrams.

Experience with Austin Energy Fiber Optic network.

Experience with assisting on complex fiber interconnections in a field setting.

Experience working with electric transmission/distribution operation systems.

Experience with fiber testing equipment- OTDR , Loss Testers, Power meters, VFL (visual fault locator), fiber scopes.

Experience using Fujikura fiber fusion splicers.

Experience with OPGW , ADSS , and duct fiber cables

Experience with Panduit fiber management products.

Experience managing and designing fiber optic networks.

Experience installing fiber cable.

Experience working in confined spaces.

Experience using Microsoft applications to include Excel and Visio

Experience working in a utility environment.

Ability to travel to more than one work location.Duties, Functions and Responsibilities Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Design, evaluate, integrate, secure, test, maintain and upgrade all aspects of network, telephony and/or wireless hardware and software technologies as well as assist in defining, developing and implementing disaster recovery plans and network test plans.

Analyze, integrate, recommend, communicate, and support design solutions to resolve more complex network, telephony, and wireless issues.

Assist with planning, forecasting, budgeting, procuring and implementing new network hardware and software including the retirement of existing systems and components.

Coordinate and communicate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network, telephony, and wireless components with customer departments and project teams

Provide solution based cost analysis.

Ensure equipment is installed and maintained in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Monitor services provided by vendors to ensure service levels are met.

Monitor and assist in management of equipment inventory.

Implement network security procedures and ensure compliance of all security policies, procedures and standards.
