We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Childbirth Instructor designs, implements and evaluates outpatient perinatal instruction and support services. The primary focus of this role is providing outpatient education and support for expectant and new parents. Additionally the Childbirth Instructor will train and collaborate with the maternal nursing staff in order to provide consistent and accurate information to new mothers. We are an amazing team, that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you, who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.

You will conduct classes that impart information encompassing pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting according to the stated objectives and content for each topic.

You will assist in the development and revision of class content, handouts, and teaching strategies annually based on evaluation feedback.

You will provide education within the scope of the Childbirth Education Program as well as continued consultation to patients who are in need of services post-discharge.

You will be responsible for creating policies and procedures within the scope of Childbirth.

What qualifications you will need:Experience

1 year experience in Adult education

2 years teaching experience as a certified instructor in childbirth education - preferred

Education

High school education or equivalent

Graduate from an accredited school or professional nursing – preferred

Instructors with Bachelor’s degree - preferred

Licenses and Certifications

Certified by a national childbirth education credentialing (Lamaze or ICEA) organization within 18 months of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required per St. David’s Healthcare policy
