Description As an Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist, you play a crucial role in managing the company’s financial obligations. In this role, you are responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process from invoice entry to payment processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies. You will also manage and mentor one direct report, providing guidance and support to maintain efficiency in the department.Key Responsibilities:

Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure proper approvals before payment

Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies with vendors

Maintain accurate records of payments and monitor due dates to avoid late fees

Prepare and process electronic transfers, ACH payments, and check runs

Oversee and train your direct report, delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring workflow efficiency

Assist in month-end closing by preparing AP reports and reconciling accounts

Communicate with vendors to address inquiries, resolve payment issues, and negotiate terms when necessary

Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations

Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports

Continuously seek process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounts payable

Requirements

Qualifications:

Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and best practices

Experience with accounting software and ERP systems

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Strong communication and leadership abilities to manage and mentor your direct report

Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
