Job Description: Piano Teacher of Music School (part time, flexible working time, Austin)

"Maestro Stars Academy" - Music School – looking for 2 Piano Teachers. Immediately available.

The school is being set up in the area of Allandale, TX 78757

Reporting to: The Piano Teacher of Music School will report to site director.

Salary Scale: $40-60/hour, part time 10-20 hours / week, working time flexible

Position availability: Immediately to work.

Applicant shall have eligibility to work legally in US.

The Music School - Maestro Stars Academy

The school is staffed full time by the Director of school and some part time teaching musicians/artists. There are currently 10+ musical/vocal/instrumental instructors teaching over dozens of lessons per week in the main campus and they also support the provision of extra-curricular activities.

The school activities are run after school and fixtures take place in the main on 3:30 through 8:30 on week days, or on 9:30 am through 5:30 pm on weekend days, roughly. The School expects its staff to contribute whole-heartedly to school life by drawing upon their own interests and enthusiasms.

The school vocal/choir has been invited to perform in the Stanford University Memorial Church Christmas eve in year 2022, and 2023 continuously as the only music group invited. And its delegate team members have won some of the top national awards in Musical Theatre Competitions of America continuously in 2023 and 2024.

The school will arrange 1-2 major trips for musical competition or performance on field trip every year to California or New York. There are many other concerts and smaller recitals throughout the year in school and in the local and wider community. The school also hosts a number of musical days for Prep and Junior schools.

Piano Teacher Responsibilities:

1. Determining student goals and objectives, and discussing lesson details with them and parents before committing to a plan.

2. Structuring individual lessons based on client preferences and goals.

3. Providing students with appropriate materials and resources.

4. Showing up on time for scheduled practice sessions, recitals, competitions, and other events.

5. Teaching music theory, and helping students sharpen their sight-reading, memorizing, and improvising techniques.

6. Demo and record lessons if needed so students can identify their own mistakes and monitor their progress.

7. Preparing students for ABRSM, RCM and other national or international recognition exams, recitals, concerts, and other events.

8. Motivating students, especially when they are struggling and progress is slow.

9. Providing constructive feedback and adjusting lessons as required.

Piano Teacher Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in music and teaching certificate is required. Master or Doctor of Musical Arts (Major in Piano Performance/ Music Education/ Piano pedagogy) is a big plus.

2. Strong musical ability, as well as proven piano skills and knowledge.

3. Previous experience as a piano teacher would be advantageous.

4. Fluent sight-reading.

5. Patience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

6. Strong motivational skills.

7. Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses.

8. Can work legally in US
