Visit us online at: https://www.nwths.com/careers POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Educator is responsible for assisting with the onboarding new hires onto the unit as well as the continued necessary education provided to staff on the unit throughout the year. Such responsibilities encompass assigning preceptors to new hires and overseeing the onboarding process relative to orientation packets and pathways as well as coordinating orientation progress meetings with new hires, preceptors and nursing leadership. Nurse educators also play a key role in annual competency validation on all units and assisting to ensure the educational foundation is consistent with successful onboarding and regulatory requirements. Nurse educators also supports an organizational culture for safety and Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. PROVISION OF SERVICES

Demonstrates leadership in the provision of services through a collaborative process designed to integrate services/functions throughout NWTHS.

Participates in and supports a process to measure, assess, and improve performance of management, clinical, and/or support services.

Maintain accountability for overall processes affecting unit functioning by demonstrating improvement in at least one process or outcome annually with supportive documentation.

Maintains regulatory compliance as related to The Joint Commission, Texas Department of State Health Services, and the Board of Nursing.

Assures implementation and evaluation of new and/or enhanced services.

Utilizes clinical and leadership experience and expertise to facilitate, measure, evaluate, and interpret care needs of patients and performance of staff, to achieve the highest quality of care to patients served.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.

BSN required OR national certification in nursing specialty within one year of becoming a unit-based educator.

Three years similar nursing experience, education experience preferred.

Maintain Handle with Care certification annually.

Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit:

NRP within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment

STABLE within 6 months of hire; repeat renewal class every 2 years until 10 years’ experience. Class may be taken anytime within the year of expiration.

90% score on neonatal medication exam – employees will have two chances to pass with remediation material available
