Job Summary:

Located on the waterfront of American Yacht Harbor, Hook’D USVI is an al-fresco waterfront dining experience specializing in locally sourced ingredients and scratch made dishes. Our Caribbean inspired, seafood forward menu provides locals and visitors alike, with a relaxed, yet refined, dining experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We are looking for an outgoing individual that will lead and enhance our cohesive team environment.

Candidate Profile:

Ideal candidate would strive to continually improve guest experience, employee satisfaction, and look to maximize financial performance of the business. Successful candidates demonstrate attention to detail with a sense of urgency, are highly focused and organized, and have the ability to manage stressful situations while maintaining composure. Areas of responsibility include managing the front and back of the house; supervises daily bar and kitchen operations and assists with administrative responsibilities, maintaining sanitation standards, and front and back of house staff during peak meal periods. Previous success in a similar role, within the Food & Beverage industry, is highly desired. Candidate must also be knowledgeable with Microsoft office (Word & Excel) and posses general computer skills. Candidate must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for long periods of time.

Core Work Activities:

Supervises and manages all front and back of house employees. Manages day-to-day operations. Willingness to understand all front and back of house employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees’ absence as needed.

Maintains service and sanitation standards in restaurant and kitchen areas.

Reviews staffing levels and scheduling to ensure operation needs and financial objectives are met.

Utilizes emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others. Demonstrates honesty and integrity; leads by example.

Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members; serves as a role model to team and peers.

Ensures and maintains the productivity level of employees

Ensures compliance with all food and beverage policies, standards, and procedures by training, supervising follow-up and hands on management.

Ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards

Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees and ensures employees do the same within the team.

Improves service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching when needed.

Displays leadership in hospitality, exemplifies excellent customer service and creates a positive atmosphere for guests, employees and vendors alike.

Meets with guests on an informal basis during meals or upon departure to obtain feedback on qualify of food.

Ensures all employees are treated fairly and equitably. Strives to improve employee retention

Oversees receipt of goods from vendors. Ensuring quality of products, communicating when items have been refused or not delivered.

Candidate must possess a current VI Food Service Health Card.
