Job Description
A Room Attendant with the Mafolie Hotel & Restaurant is responsible for cleaning guest rooms, public space areas and responding to guest requests in the hotel and deliver outstanding guest service. This position will require you to work varying schedules to include weekends, and maybe holidays.
Who are we?
We are an independently owned St. Thomas hotel, with 22 guest rooms including 4 suites. The Mafolie Hotel & Restaurant has been a distinctive Caribbean gem since its founding in 1952. At 866 feet above sea level, our views are breathtaking from almost any angle on the property. Each room is unique offering with a King or Queen bed, private balconies, additional futons in our mini-suites and almost all have a Harbor view.
We have a restaurant offering complimentary buffet breakfast to our hotel guests and dinner open to the public. Our bar offers extraordinary views of downtown Charlotte Amalie. The pool is open daily with drinks at our pool bar.
Job Responsibilities
We want to build an experience that is memorable and unique. As a Room Attendant, you would be responsible for cleaning guest rooms, public space areas and responding to guest requests in the hotel continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Clean guest rooms as assigned, including, but not limited to, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, and dusting
Change and replenish bed linens, towels and guest amenities, as needed
Perform deep cleaning tasks, as needed
Ensures all linen closets are stocked and work areas are neat, clean and organized on a daily basis
Dispose of trash and recyclables
Respond to special guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
Cleaning public space areas, such as the lobby and public restrooms
Conducts walk-arounds of assigned areas to ensure the facility meets housekeeping standards
Reports maintenance repair problems to Supervisor
Ensures all lost and found items are turned into the front desk and logged on a daily basis
Ensures sanitation guidelines are maintained
Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
Qualifications
Must be available to work from 9am to 4pm, shift end time may vary depending on occupancy of the hotel.
Previous hotel or restaurant cleaning experience preferred but not required
Working knowledge of various cleaning utensils, cleaners, tools, and fixtures
Ability to work quickly under pressure
Ability to follow direction and instructions
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking and standing for entire length of shift.
Frequent climbing of stairs.
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and carrying.
Use of hands to operate cleaning equipment and complete scrubbing/washing duties.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Visual acuity sufficient to inspect cleanliness of rooms and surfaces.
