Guam Animals In Need (GAIN) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Animal Caretaker & Euthanasia Technician to join our team!
Job Description:
You will be responsible for providing daily care to animals, including feeding, socializing, and monitoring basic health. Other duties will include, but are not limited to: daily upkeep of the shelter, interacting with clients, clerical support when needed, working closely with other shelter staff, and assisting in vital efforts to promote animal welfare and educate the community.
A key component of this role will involve performing euthanasia procedures with dignity, respect, and professionalism when necessary. You will be entrusted with handling this delicate responsibility, ensuring that all animals in our care are treated humanely in their final moments.
Responsibilities:
Daily rounds to check shelter animal’s health and behavior
Cleaning out, sanitizing, and preparing kennels
Receive incoming animals from the public and government agencies
Assisting adopters and fosters as needed
Provide basic medical needs (vaccines, dewormers, flea/tick preventative, etc)
Input collected information on pets into online shelter management database
Teaching and directing shelter volunteers
Administering daily medications to shelter pets as directed by SNIP clinic
Maintaining inventory
Logging use of controlled drugs
Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining shelter facility
Providing clerical support in the office as needed
Answering phones as needed
Assist with social media as needed
Job Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Will be required to study for, complete, and pass Euthanasia Technician Certification training
Compensation:
Starting at $10 – will receive raise once Euthanasia Technician Certification is completed and passed
Position has potential to be increased to full-time
