Project DescriptionThe Government of Solomon Islands has requested assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to strengthen senior secondary education to build climate and disaster resilience. This project will achieve this by reforming the curriculum in years 10 –12 to make it more practical and equip students with the necessary foundational skills for continuous learning and future employment, focusing on skills and jobs that foster resilience. The Project will update and construct new climate-resilient facilities at 10 schools and strengthen management. It will also address barriers and challenges girls face —piloting innovative gender-transformative activities and implementing a leadership and management program for aspiring female educators. The project is aligned with the following impact: all Solomon Islanders will develop as individuals and possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to earn a living and to live in harmony with others and their environment. The project will improve the quality, relevance, and gender-responsiveness of senior secondary education for a climate-resilient economy.Position DescriptionEDC is seeking a Curriculum Development Specialist/Deputy Team Leader to assist the Team Leader in coordinating project activities. The Curriculum Development Specialist/Deputy Team Leader’s key tasks include but are not limited to the following:Lead the development and review of curriculum packageEnsure curriculum alignment with national education standardsSupervise local curriculum development team membersCoordinate with schools and education stakeholders for curriculum pilotingOversee the development of teachers’ guidelinesMonitor implementation progress and qualityProvide technical support to curriculum writers and reviewersConduct training workshops for teachers and curriculum officersDevelop training materials and resourcesMentor local curriculum development staffSupport knowledge transfer initiativesLiaise with Ministry officialsCoordinate with other workstream teamsEngage with school leaders and teachersFacilitate community consultations on curriculum mattersPrepare regular progress reportsDocument curriculum development processesContribute to project monitoring and evaluationMaintain records of curriculum development activitiesThis position is contingent upon award by the donor.Candidates shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:
