Chem Analyst Job DescriptionThe lab analyst will be working in the pet food lab to perform tests on raw materials and finished products. Analysts will conduct chromatography and liquid chromatography testing to check the shelf life, nutritional value (vitamins and minerals), and stability of the products.Responsibilities
Provide technical knowledge and expertise in the use and application of specialized analytical instrumentation.
Support nutritional testing, pre-mix, pre-blends, mixer studies, raw ingredients, developmental products, and finished product analysis.
Use specific instrumentation such as ICP, ICP MS, Leco Protein Analyzers, Fat Extractors, Auto Titrators, TGA, HPLC, GC, and Wet Chemistry tests.
Assist scientists and engineers in a lab environment by collecting samples and performing biological or chemical analyses.
Set up controlled research experiments and coordinate day-to-day lab projects.
Plan, design, and conduct laboratory experiments to test the chemical specifications of various substances, materials, and products.
Estimate resources and time required to conduct experiments and monitor performance to ensure targets are met.
Collect, prepare, and test samples while recording observations.
Prepare detailed reports with recommendations, applications, and conclusions.
Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
Essential Skills
Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and tools.
Experience with laboratory equipment and techniques such as chromatography, chemistry, and quality assurance testing.
Ability to perform routine tasks with little autonomy under close supervision or defined procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with LCMSMS, ICP-OES, HPLC, or GC-FID.
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, natural sciences, food sciences, or pharmaceuticals with an emphasis in Analytical Chemistry.
Analytical chemistry experience is preferred.
