Job DescriptionOn-Site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.The RoleIn this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process. You will required to use your independent discernment. Your responsibility may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
New program implementation/execution (SOR prep, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff)
Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts.
Manage deliveries to program timing milestones.
Provide project report outs to senior management.
Existing program/site support (troubleshooting, etc.)
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all customers/plants.
Provide technical direction to less experienced controls engineers.
Design and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems.
Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology.
You will provide direction to small group of technical employees.
You may evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment.
Travel as required.
Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills And Abilities (Required Qualifications )
Bachelor’s Degree with major in engineering or equivalent experience/training
5+ years of experience as a controls engineer
Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process.
Experience in PLC and HMI programming, Ethernet and/or Device Net networks
Knowledge of servo motors, motion control and drives
Ability to design and trouble shoot electrical controls systems.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results.
Proven ability in project management skills
Multiple different manufacturing controls assignments with successful individual achievements
Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems.
What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Demonstrated understanding of plant floor work
Matrox, Cognex, FANUC Vision experience is a plus
General knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus.
Prior work experience as Controls Engineer in the automotive field
Knowledge of GM’s Global Controls Architecture
