The Director of Cardiopulmonary and Sleep Lab is a registered Respiratory Therapist with clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist. This Director is a member of the leadership team and reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer. He/she must be able to work collaboratively with all members of the leadership and health care team and must be able to effectively lead others. The Director of Cardiopulmonary/Sleep Lab is responsible for all service lines under the Cardiopulmonary and Sleep Lab Department including Respiratory Therapy, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab, pulmonary function testing, Holter monitor testing and Sleep Lab. This Director is responsible for providing clinical and operational oversight to the areas managed and is responsible for ensuring the standards of care are met for the patients served. The Director of Cardiopulmonary/Sleep Lab is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and staffing goals within the areas managed. He/she participates in the cardiac stress test process and works collaboratively with the Nuclear Medicine department to administer cardiac stress testing. This Director provides oversight to the EKG processes across the hospital as well as the ABG lab and works collaboratively with the Laboratory Director to ensure the ABG lab and ABG processes meet standard of care and the laboratory regulatory requirements. The Director Cardiopulmonary/Sleep Lab is a working manager and may provide direct or indirect patient care within the hospital.Essential Functions Determines, coordinates, and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.Performs Electrocardiogram, Holter Monitoring and Scanning, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, attend all C-sections and high-risk deliveries of newborn, Arterial Blood Gas Sticks, Capillary sticks, Analyzation of Arterial Blood Gas, Cord Blood Gases, Capillary Blood Gases and Carboxyhemoglobin, Maintenance and troubleshooting of Arterial Blood Gas Analyzer, Pulmonary Function Studies, Electroencephalograms, Stress Testing, Cardiac Rehabilitation.Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.

Monitors department budget, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies, monitors usage and supply stock, and oversees equipment function.

Collaborates with physicians and health care team members to provide care to the patients.

Ensures the patient care delivered follows recommended standards of care in a manner that promotes positive outcomes, avoids harm to patients and promotes health and healing.Organizational Expectations Actively participates in Foundation Safety Behavior Tools and Tactics such as Briefs, Debriefs, Huddles, Learning Board Activities, Executive Patient Safety Rounds and reporting of unanticipated and unintended patient events regardless of where there is harm.Provide effective mentoring

Must possess an active Registered Respiratory Therapist license in the state of TN.Required Skills

Must have current BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Must have current ACLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.,

Must have current PALS or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Must have current NRP or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Must obtain HWC within 90 days of hire.Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to operate or must possess the ability to learn to operate the equipment required to perform the essential job duties including the use of mechanical ventilator devices, Holter monitors, pulmonary function equipment, and equipment used within the cardiac/pulmonary rehab and sleep lab environments.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Must possess strong computer skills and have the ability to work with multiple computer systems.

Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English.Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience. Previous management or leadership experience preferred.Required Licenses
