Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Qualifications:
A thorough understanding of diesel engines and heavy construction equipment is essential for this position. Person must possess knowledge of both on road and off road heavy machinery. Formal mechanical education and certification is desirable. Experience of at least 5 years working full time as a heavy equipment mechanic is required. Must have good social & organizational skills and the ability to work with others.
Responsibilities:
Reports directly to Shop Manager who prioritizes equipment repairs.
Heavy Equipment Mechanic repairs all assigned equipment belonging to Earth Solutions.
Responsibilities may include equipment and vehicles maintenance if beyond the scope of the technicians or if they are unavailable or behind on maintenance. This may include regular oil changes, hydraulic oil changes, filter changes, blowing out radiators & greasing.
Diagnosis and repair of equipment in disrepair.
Educates coworkers in the proper care of equipment
Prioritizes work with a goal that reduces the down time of equipment
Responsible to place a lockout/tagout on equipment being worked on and completes work as quickly as possible. In the event a part is needed, the repair should be completed as soon as the part arrives.
Coordinates major repairs that requires equipment down time with Shop Manager
Is respectful to co-workers and coordinates repairs in such a way to minimize disruption of work
May included other duties as determined by Shop Manager
