We want you to apply!Job Summary and QualificationsAs the Scheduler, you will be responsible for the scheduling of patient procedures to be performed. You will obtain complete and accurate patient demographics and procedure information from the patient and/or the physician office. You will be responsible for the understanding of procedure knowledge, patient scheduling, report writing, medical and insurance terminology, and auditing of information. You will have excellent telephone, communication, and documentation skills. You will be knowledgeable of scheduling systems, consent forms, and I-codes. You will interact and coordinate with ancillary departments to schedule procedures and tests performed in different departments.

You will complete form letters, patient packets, callbacks and follow ups with patients that physician offices request scheduling for

You will understand the relationship of insurance policies and procedures performed

You will use various computer systems, central scheduling systems, and office equipment

You will answer phones and schedule, reschedule, or edit procedures per physician or patient request

You will update resources in the scheduling dictionary according to requests of ancillary departments

You will obtain proper orders according to HIM policy

You will demonstrate knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilize system to report potential patient safety issues

You will obtain, enter, and update patient demographic information into the centralized scheduling system

You will enter and schedule all procedures for outpatient and inpatient, and schedule corresponding tests and equipment along with ensuring accurate details are communicated

You will maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and comply with HIPPA

You will understand patient consents and advance directives, and ensure details are communicated to staff during the scheduling process

You will maintain a courteous and helpful manner in all interactions, as well as open and frequent communication

You will audit patient information and do assigned QA

What qualifications you will need:Experience

3 years of scheduling experience in a hospital or clinic setting with OR/Surgery and/or Radiology experience

Knowledge of medical terminology

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent
