Position DescriptionThe Metro Public Health Department is seeking a Program Specialist to join the Overdose Response Team implementing overdose prevention strategies in TN at the local level. This position will help increase Nashvilles capacity to respond effectively to the overdose epidemic and decrease related fatalities.If you have any questions about this position please contact MPHD HR at (615)-340-5640Typical Duties

Participates in the delivery, evaluation, and analysis of programs and services.

Gathers program related information and maintains data confidentiality.

Consults with subject matter experts to ascertain best practices in substance abuse intervention and overdose response.

Keeps current on substance use disorder developments and trends.

Maintains accurate records of program activities.

Assists client-families with navigating resources to help them set goals and make improvements in their overall health.

Develops community partnerships to promote awareness of services and resources.

Performs general administrative duties as required

Participates in continuing education and other professional development opportunities.

Provides program information to customers to meet the needs of the population being served.

Minimum QualificationsAny combination of education and experience that would prepare the incumbent to perform the duties of the position at the appropriate level. Employees would typically have a bachelors degree and/or 5 years professional experience.Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques of one or more behavioral, social or related sciences.

Individuals with existing relationships and/or understanding of this community.

Skill in working with the public.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to research and analyze complex data.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
