Position DescriptionThe Planning Department is currently seeking a skilled Administrative Services Officer 2 to join our dynamic team. This role plays a crucial part in overseeing administrative functions, ensuring efficiency, and contributing to the effective operation of our organization. The Administrative Services Officer 2 will provide support to the financial and customer service functions within the Planning Department.Nashville Planning Department is comprised of planners and designers with expertise in land use, architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design. These staff members provide analysis and recommendations throughout Metro Nashville on current planning and development, community planning, and urban design and landscape issues in a wide variety of urban, suburban, and rural contexts.Typical Duties

Works in close conjunction with the financial team within the Operations division of the Planning Department.

Assists with financial transactional work.

Processes employee conferences and travel expenses, invoices and approvals.

Enters daily deposits, handles hospitality requests for the department, approves requisitions, and coordinates supply orders.

Aids in budget preparation.

Compiles data and prepares financial reports and presentations to support financial decision-making within the department.

Provides administrative support such as scheduling, coordination of calendars, and event planning. to the Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors.

Assists in record retention practices in compliance with applicable policies.

Shares responsibilities in greeting customers, answering phones, and directing public to appropriate offices with other department personnel.

Recommends process improvements, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university, and two (2) years of Professional experience in an administrative, financial, technical, or related field.Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degreeLICENSE REQUIREDValid Driver License Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government. Experience working in a fast-paced, demanding, public-facing environment

Strong skills with Microsoft program (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Problem solver, highly efficient, and detail oriented
