Development OfficeJob DescriptionAs our state and nation face a critical need for greater numbers of well-prepared educators, the College of Education at MTSU seeks a skilled and experienced Development Officer to lead its fundraising program. The Development Officer will perform, coordinate, or oversee all advancement activities relating to the College of Education with the goal of raising a minimum of $500,000.00 per year. First priority will focus on prospect identification and relationship building leading to successful engagement and solicitation of major and planned gifts ($25,000+). The Development Officer will build and manage a major gift prospect portfolio of 50-75 individuals, corporations, or foundations in partnership with the dean and appropriate faculty. Fundraising priorities and outreach strategies will be developed in coordination with the dean and college leadership. The Development Officer will collaborate with the Associate Director for Annual Giving on all annual giving efforts for the College of Education, as well as overseeing stewardship and related special events.The ability to travel and participate in special events, occasional night or weekend appointments, are requisite. Demonstrable cultivation planning and solicitation experience is required.Required Educational Qualifications and Field of StudyBachelor’s degree required.Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience Three years of progressively responsible and successful fundraising experience focused on major gifts. Reasonably related experience in marketing, communication, or education will be secondarily considered.Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work ExperienceHigher education fundraising experience preferred.Certificates/ Licenses PreferredSalary Range
