Summary About the Position: You will serve as an Interior Designer for Facilities Management Division. Assignments involve performance of office and field interior design duties including in-house design, design of furniture, fixtures, equipment and graphics packages, and resolution of interior design problems encountered during project construction. This position may be telework eligible in accordance with OPM and DoD regulations, local policy, and approval by the supervisor. Responsibilities Prepare interior design analysis and specifications related to prewired workstations (systems furniture), interior finishes and features. Research current design resource library to include up-to-date samples of interior building finishes and materials, furniture, equipment, and product literature. Prepare complete interior design drawings and documents in compliance with governing criteria and project requirements. Act as liaison between using agencies, architect-engineer firms and other government and non-government activities. Participate in periodic and special inspections during construction and/or upon completion of projects. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes researching methods to solve problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior environment; preparing drawings and documents relative to the design of interior spaces to enhance and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public; AND preparing complete interior design drawings and documents in compliance with governing criteria and project requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Architecture Problem Solving Project Management Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
