This position interacts with carriers, facilities, Motor Carrier Managers, Transportation Specialists/Planners, business logistics, customer service, and other internal support resources necessary to proactively communicate, ship, and deliver our product to meet our customers’ needs. The position is responsible for driving improvement in the tactical performance of our truck and intermodal carrier metrics. Key metrics include, but are not limited to,: adherence to contracted commitments, adherence to electronic business rules for making appointments and reporting deliveries, on-time pick-ups, maintaining proper equipment levels in trailer pools, on-time delivery, and customer fines.Key Accountabilities:

Understand the complex needs of the business units, facilities, and carriers.

Understand customer business rules and expectations.

Monitor shipping processes to improve communications and on-time delivery to customers.

Monitor and research carrier related fines and develop action plans with carriers.

Manage carrier activity to improve carrier scorecard metrics and overall service across assigned carrier base.

Build relationships with and between stakeholders to improve accountability for successful shipment execution.

Key Challenges:

Learn quickly in a dynamic business environment.

Navigate through multiple systems to understand, explain, and resolve issues with shipment execution.

Understand market conditions and the impact to facilities, carriers, and customers.

Work with cross-functional groups within the enterprise to find solutions to complex problems.

Handle the high transactional volume and large scope of facilities, customers, and carriers.

Improve carrier performance metrics that influenced by a myriad of internal and external factors.

Knowledge of key internal and external contacts and organizations for timely problem resolution.

Scope:

Manage tactical performance for assigned carriers for outbound finished products shipments from North American mills, RDCs, DCs, and converters.

Other related projects as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience:

College degree required

Minimum 2 years supply chain experience - preferred

Demonstrated ability to work as a team member

Demonstrated record of achieving results as a self-starter

Excellent communication skills written and verbal

Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Applications and SAP

Proven analytical and data management skills

Experience in facility/carrier operations – preferred

Industry/ME Certifications – desired
