Gateway Court Reporting & Video, LLC is actively recruiting stenographic court reporters, and on a selective basis, digital court reporters. 1099 or W2 positions are possible, depending on the candidate's experience and professional goals.
Equipment and financial support may be available for select candidates wishing to pursue a career in stenographic court reporting. Financial support for stenographic schooling and equipment is dependent on graduation from an NCRA-approved reporting program and subsequent licensure and hire. Scholarships may be considered with proof of progress in the speed-building phase of stenographic reporting school.
Candidates for digital reporting are also considered, with exceptions as to method and workflow. Digital reporters must have demonstrated knowledge in legal terminology and legal transcription, must be able to create and fully edit their own transcripts with a very high degree of accuracy, and must have passed applicable certifications via AAERT. A strong knowledge of multi-track audio recording procedures and software should also be demonstrated for digital candidates.
Strong candidates for either reporting method will have impeccable vocabulary, grammar, proofreading, and formatting skills. Success in court reporting requires strong self-discipline and adherence to deadlines. Procrastination is not compatible with success in the field. Former teachers, writers, and paralegals may find that they are strong candidates. Stenographic court reporting may also be well-suited for those who are talented musicians, gamers, or otherwise have strong hand-eye coordination and ability to multitask.
