Smoky Mountain Animal Clinic is in need of a caring professional who can take care of our clients and their pets.

We are a small animal veterinary office in the heart of east TN. Seymour is a small community with beautiful mountain views and just 30 minutes away from knoxville (15 from south knoxville), sevierville, and Maryville/ Alcoa TN. Our clinic consists of 1 full time vet/owner and 3 part time veterinarians. We focus on a high level of care for our patients with a supportive team network. We are flexible in scheduling.
We are a growing clinic and pay an hourly wage to allow for scheduling flexibility and to prevent overworking salaried employees. We do have bonus structures and opportunities (up to $200 extra per paycheck, up to $700 per quarter, and uniform/shoe budgets for group challenges).
Technician:
An ideal candidate would be an assistant or tech who excels at client communication (loves to learn about vet medicine and teach others) and fear free handling of patients. We frequently work with a local shelter as well for emergency and foster pet care. We also handle client emergencies during business hours.
Familiarity with PCs is preferred because we have a DR Digital Xray, ultrasound, electronic records (AVIMARK), online pharmacy, and a Rewards APP.
Euthanasias are treated with care, compassion and extended time when possible so we prefer staff who are comfortable being with clients during grief.
We work with clients of various incomes and create treatment plans that are unique for each patient and owner budget.

The most frequent compliment we get from our clients is that our doctors and STAFF take the time to explain things in simple ways and that our staff is very knowledgeable. We believe that the more we teach our staff and clients the better care they will take of the pets.
We currently currently only see canine and feline patients
Tattoos and non-natural hair color are accepted as long as the knowledge and demeanor can back up the appearance :) We are also happy to work with working mom/dad schedules.
Assistant Duties:
Walking dogs, laundry, restraining pets for procedures or medications, checking clients into exams and surgery, filling medications, light bathing and nail trimming, and lots of poop of course. Janitorial duties for kennel and clinic also expected. Can be trained to assist on tech duties listed below
Technician Duties:
Triage appointments, collecting samples (blood, urine, feces) from pets, running samples in-clinic or prepping for shipment, digital x-ray, induction, prep and patient monitoring before and after a procedure, communication with owners, sterilizing surgical and dental tools, dental cleanings, "running" exam rooms, filling Rxs, managing inventory, working with our online pharmacy, nail trims/potty patch, IV catheter placement and care of hospitalized patients with oral and injectable medications.

Assistant:
Pay starts at $15 with little-to-no experience, with a merit based raise at 90 days and then an annual/merit raise.
For experienced assistants and those in school for technician pay is negotiable based on skill set ($17-20/hour and up).
Licensed Technician with experience $20+/hour starting.
with our bonuses our support staff normally averages $20-22 per hour at the end of the year - in addition often get $400-500 in uniforms (shirts, scrubs, shoes) by years end.
Full Time benefits after 60-90 days: Dental/Vision through BCBS 100% employer covered, setting up BCBS 50% employer backed health insurance with HSA, discounted pet food and veterinary services, and eligibility for weekly and monthly bonuses including uniforms (scrubs and shoes). Vacation and paid time off earned at 1 year employment.
Currently we are only open Mon-Fri 8am-4pm but we may extend hours to 5pm or add occasional sign-up Saturday shift for the summer.
